TITLE:Frank Sullivan: The Sage of Saratoga with Chris Millis
SUMMARY:Frank Sullivan: The Sage of Saratoga with Chris Millis
DESCRIPTION:Frank Sullivan: The Sage of Saratoga with Chris Millis\nPrize
winning novelist, cartoonist and screenwriter Chris Millis discusses one
of his literary heroes, Frank Sullivan, using resources of the library
and History Museum.\nChris Millis, a bestselling, prize-winning author,
filmmaker, and lifelong Saratogian, will offer stories and reflections on
the life and remarkable writing career of his hometown hero.

Born in
Saratoga Springs in 1892, humorist Frank Sullivan began writing for the
Saratogian at $7 a week, moved on to newspapers in New York City, and
joined the staff of The New Yorker magazine in its second year of
existence — writing its annual Christmas poem “Greetings, Friends”
  for 42 years.

“A generous personality,” is what Pulitzer
Prize-winning playwright Marc Connelly called his old pal, Sullivan.
“The least bitter man I ever knew.”
Sullivan lived at 135 Lincoln
Avenue until his death on February 19, 1976. “A small town is the place
to live,” he once wrote. “I live in a small town 180 miles from New
York and while I would not say it has New York beat by a mile I would put
  the distance at six furlongs.”
