TITLE:Poetry Café - January
SUMMARY:Poetry Café - January
DESCRIPTION:Poetry Café - January\nPoetry Café attendees will have the
opportunity to do close readings of poems, as well as discuss and enjoy
their sound and sense with others. This season’s poems will center on
the experiences of refugees and migrants.\nPoetry Café attendees are
guided in close readings of poems, and discussing their sound and sense
with others. For our January gathering, we’ll consider the poems in
Javier Zamora’s recent Publication “Unaccompanied.” The
poet chronicles his own unaccompanied migration from El Salvador to the
U.S. at the age of nine. In reading Zamora’s work, we may recall
our own stories, or those of our forebears; we’ll see how
contemporary poetry addresses matters ripped from the headlines.

Copies
of “Unaccompanied” are available in the discussion group
section. Handouts of selected poems available at info desk.
